Happy Valentine's!

Hi everyone! Thank you very much for visiting my blog today.

Time flies and in two days will be Valentine's Day. There are many versions of this celebration, but the best known says that this day is celebrated in the name of love, because a Christian pope, named Valentine, around 270AD, was beheaded as punishment for aiding and married to Christians. Terrible story to commemorate a day dedicated to love...

I hope everyone can enjoy this February 14th (and every day) with your loved ones.

Today I made this card with the Mojo Monday Sketch and the topic of St. Valentine's. I did the drawing for the occasion. I also made the flower by using different punch papers. Hope you like it!

Card supplies: Images© of EdithDesigns (me!), white metallic German cardstock, Bazzill cardstock, DCWV The Linen Closet glitter cardstock, Cuttlebug Kassie’s Brocade and Swiss dots embossing folders, Duncan snow paint, different flowers punch papers, New Collection red flowers rhinestones, miscellaneous ribbons, pale green silk thread and my sewing machine.

Birds in love...

Hello friends, thanks for visiting my blog today!

I just realized that I made another birds' card, but... I love birds!

I hope you had a great week. Today I will show you a new card that I made very quickly, because I had a lot of work on my "part time" job (which sometimes turns into full-time job ...). I used a drawing of a bird that I made some time ago and doubled it, then they became in a couple. While I am drawing I always imagine the story behind my "characters", so this drawing was transformed into a couple of lovers waiting to celebrate Valentine's Day. I used the Mojo Monday sketch and I will also enter it in other challenges, because there are many challenges related to Valentine's Day.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend:)

Card supplies:
Images© of EdithDesigns (me!), Bazzill cardstock, K&Co designer paper, Caran D’Ache watercolors, glitter paint, Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circle, Cuttlebug Hearts Blocks embossing folder, dark pink satin ribbon, flower button, silk pearl color thread and my sewing machine.

I love these little birds!

Hello! Thanks for visiting my blog today!

A new card finally! I want to thank those nice ladies who shared their advice on the issue of lack of time. I realized that it is a problem for all of us, even those who are supposed are plenty of time, a nice retired lady:) . Anyway, I will try to adjust my schedule and put more hours on my day (or night…)

These days I have been thinking on Katie and her family. I think she is an incredibly brave girl. I also thought how, thanks to the web, she has been able to feel the affection of so many people that are with her with prayers and words of support. The world was smaller before the web....

Well, now some words about my card. I used the Mojo Monday sketch Challenge and I will enter it in other challenges. I also used a new drawing and I did not sew this card, which is something I do not use to do. I always use my sewing machine! This time I was not in the mood of sewing… Hope you like it!

Card supplies:
Image© of Edith Designs (me!), Bazzill cardstock, miscellaneous designer paper, Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Oval, Cuttlebug Victoria embossing folder, Recollections Rhinestones-Pearls Stickers, snowflakes punch paper, olive green satin ribbon and some glitter translucent paint.

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year! Thanks for your visit today:)

My first card of 2011! Last year I did not have enough time to devote to my passion for paper, because I have a lot of other activities. This year I hope to spend more time with my wonderful hobby. The issue is where to get the time: fewer hours to the family? or working hours? or sleeping hours? I would love to know how do you do with this lack of time. Nevertheless it is one of my New Year’s resolutions:)

I made this card with the Mojo Monday Sketch with a new drawing I did recently and I will take the opportunity to enter it in other challenges.

Card supplies:
Image © of EdithDesigns (me!), Bazzill cardstock, German metallic cardstock, miscellaneous designer paper, Cuttlebug Polka Dots embossing folder, Duncan Snow Glitter paint, New Collection pink rhinestones, brown thread and my sewing machine.

Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays to those who visit my blog these days!

This is a small sample of a family tradition. Every year I bake many pounds of Christmas cookies of different shapes and flavors. Some days before Christmas, along with my children, we invite their cousins, from little ones to grown up, sometimes some of their friends, to paint the cookies. It is a traditional day for us, listening to carols, where each one receives an equal number of cookies to decor and then take home. Sometimes it's a bit stressful, because, believe me, knead, cut and bake several pounds of cookies is a lot of work, but the joy of this day will remain in their memories forever:)

I hope you have a great time!

Hugs, Edith

Happy Snowman

Hello! Thanks for your visit today!

This is my new Christmas card...

I love to put snow in my cards! Where I live there is no snow at Christmas. It is a bit nostalgic thinking about Santa Claus in his sleigh on the snow and it was my frustrated desire since I was a little girl. I would love to see a little snow out my window, of course not much, because I have seen how some of my friends are suffering from the cold and heavy snowfalls, even before winter arrives.

I made this card using the Mojo Monday Sketch and the Happy Snowman, a drawing that I made for the occasion. I usually use typical colors on my Christmas cards, like green, red and gold, but in this case, as I will enter the card in other challenges, I used other colors.

Card supplies: Image © of EdithDesigns, German metallic blue and silver cardstock, K & Company Winter Wonderland designer paper, Sizzix Sizzlits snowflakes Die, snowflake punch paper, Cuttlebug Polka Dots embossing folder, Duncan snow paint, translucent glitter paint, silver metallic ribbon and, of course, my sewing machine:)

Recycling at Christmas

Hi, thanks for your visit today!

This is an easy project, that I made using only a clean tin and some leftovers...

You will need an empty tin.

Line the tin with black cardstock

Using an oak leave paper punch, cut many leaves in various shades of green cardstock. Color them with reddish tones, to make them look natural. Put on top a golden ribbon, add a bow and a rhinestone. Add some leftover Christmas decorations.

Put inside the can a battery’ candle and fill with green moss.

As I said, very simple! I hope it will inspire you to recycle your leftovers. The more we recycle, we will leave a cleaner world to our children:)

My first 2010 Christmas project, easy, easy...

This project is so easy that I will decorate many candles this year! I used candles with batteries, in order to place them anywhere. I used vellum and holographic cardstock. I cut the vellum in different sizes, rolled up and glued on the ends. I cut the cardstock with different punch papers and my Cuttlebug dies, then I added them to the rolled vellum using glue dots and that's it, ready! The easiest Christmas project of all my life!
Note: I am very responsible when using batteries. I always deposit them in appropriate containers for recycling:)

Just mushrooms....

Hi! So many challenges and so little time! I would love to have more hours to make more cards:)
This time I have a new card to show you, that I made using the Mojo Monday Sketch. I also did my best effort to include the requirements of other challenges on it.

I drew these Mushrooms especially for the Stampartic Challenge, which asks for mushrooms on the card. It was very funny, I love them! I printed the drawing several times to give my card a 3D effect. In fact, the mushrooms and the butterfly have two layers and the ladybug have three layers. She looks great with crystal effect. I included a butterfly because I really like them and I think are good as embellishment. Once I painted it I added a thin layer of glitter to give it a subtle shimmer effect.

Tag Collection and a Project

Hi, thanks for your visit! For the first time, today I will not show you a card. Today I did a project for the Cuttlebug Challenge "I Can See Clearly Now" and some others....

I was inspired on a recycling project of my friend Cindy. I have to confess that I have a recycling heart. I must also confess that ... yes, I like to cook. I like to investigate different recipes, also the cuisine of different countries and I work on my special recipes from time to time. Between trial and error, I have gathered many recipes that are already “my own recipes”. Sometimes some generous friends have asked me the recipe of something they have tried in my home... then I thought it would be nice to give them my recipes with my little tips. I used a CD case, which I found very functional because it can be open and, as it support itself, you can see the recipe easily. I put a little ring in a corner to have all the recipes together.

I decorated the cover with a couple of scalloped squares, three leaves, a butterfly and one tag of my Tags’ new collection©.

Project supplies:
Tag© of EdithDesigns, Bazzill cardstock, miscellaneous designer paper, Canson watercolor paper, Caran D’ache watercolors, Acrilex glossy paint, All Night Media liquid embossing, Ecoline ink 411 Burnt Sienna, Spellbinders Classic Scallop Square, Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder, raffia ribbon, Stampin’Up eyelets, Spellbinders Shapeabilities Butterflies Two, flower punch paper, Cricut Home Accents.

My Teddy Bear...

Hello! Thanks for visiting:) This week I have found several challenges that ask for including a Teddy Bear, so I finally used my Rex, my Teddy Bear.

I drew Rex as a Teddy Bear some time ago and I have not had the opportunity for him to be in my cards. Unfortunately, as a child I did not have a Teddy Bear, but I treasured everyone of my crayons:)

Returning to the challenges, in this card I used the Mojo Monday Sketch 151. I added a few details to participate in other challenges too:) I printed the image several times for a 3D effect. Rex has green eyes and they look great with crystal finish. In addition to the drawing, I made the flowers and the butterflies. I like to use my embossing folders in my cards. I think they are a great detail to decorate them. I also used my sewing machine, but I did not want to the stitches stand out much, because I used light colors in the background.

Card supplies,
Image© of EdithDesigns, Bazzill cardstock, Canson 140lb watercolor paper, miscellaneous designer paper, Caran D’Ache watercolors, Decoart Craft Twinkles Writer orange color, EK Success Fleur de Lis border punch, Clearsnap ColorBox brown, In Spades Spellbinders Borderabilities, Cuttlebug Textile Texture embossing folder, All Night Media crystal effect, flowers and butterflies punch papers, bronze color beads, organza ribbons, off white silk thread and my sewing machine.

Charlotte, the Ballerina

Hello! Thanks for your visit. Today I want to show you my new digi-drawing. She is Charlotte, the Ballerina.

She is a very feminine and sweet girl. Today Charlotte is a ballet dancer. I am afraid the picture does not show it, but the skirt and ballet slippers have glitter and Charlotte has beautiful green eyes. I used the Mojo Monday sketch contest. It was not a requirement to add a sentiment, but later I will add one. I think we all once dreamed of becoming ballerinas and although many do not succeed, I am sure that the very idea of wearing these beautiful costumes made us happy. You ever dreamed of being a ballerina…?

But I suddenly remembered how wonderful and happy moments I spent in my childhood playing in the Carousel. The magical journey always seemed so short... I discovered that this sentiment is perfect for this drawing. It is good to remember and appreciate the happy moments:)

The Fairy of the Fruit...

I love making cards for challenges. I appreciate very much every visit and comment I get, because I think the ladies of the Design Teams give us much time looking at the cards and writing comments:)

Having said that, I will show you my new card...

Today I made a card with the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge 148. I used one of my last drawings of my "Fairies Collection". I had in mind all the kids which do not like eating fruit. This is “The Fairy of the Fruit" which is telling us one of her secrets: the Fairies love fruit. I like 3D drawings on my cards, so I printed the image 2 times and cut out the fairy carefully. The background cardstock was dry embossed and highlighted with glitter. The designer papers also have glitter. I painted the drawing with watercolors little wings Shines with glitter and the fruit has a crystal finish. As embellishments, I also added to the Fairy’s hair 4 tiny rhinestones flowers.

Card Supplies:
Image© of EdithDesigns (me!), 140lb. watercolor paper, Bazzill cardstock, glittered DCWV The Linen Closet Stack, glittered miscellaneous designer paper, Caran D’Ache watercolors, Spellbinder Nestabilities Classic Scallop Squares, Cuttlebug Flower Border Embossing Folder, New Collection flower rhinestones, Acrilex Dimensional Glitter Paint, All Night Media Liquid Embossing, satin pink ribbon, light turquoise silk thread and my sewing machine.
